CitizenReady privacy policy
Your study data never leaves your device. Every answer, mock, note, highlight, bookmark and test date is stored on your phone and nowhere else. There is no account and no sign in, and the app works with no internet connection. The app does make one kind of outbound call, and this policy names it precisely below. It does not carry anything you have done in the app.
01 Who we are
CitizenReady is published by NextGen Software Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 14613977, registered office 167 to 169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London W1W 5PF.
For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, NextGen Software Ltd is the data controller for the limited processing described below. Contact: support@nextgensoftware.co.
02 What stays on your device
All of the following is written to a database inside the app’s own storage on your phone. It never leaves your device and we have no way to read it.
- Your answers to practice questions, reviews, retakes and mocks
- Your mock results and score history
- Your readiness figure and topic accuracy
- Your retake deck and review schedule
- Bookmarks, highlights and notes
- Your test date, if you set one
- Your appearance and reminder preferences
- Your reading progress through the chapters
If you delete the app, all of it is deleted with it. We hold no backup and cannot restore it.
03 What leaves your device
Only purchase management, and only to one service.
We use RevenueCat to know whether you have bought the app. The app contacts RevenueCat in three situations:

That anonymous identifier is generated on your device and is not derived from your name, your email address, your phone number or any account. We do not know who you are and we cannot connect that identifier to a person.
Nothing about your study is ever sent. No answers, no scores, no readiness figure, no notes, no test date.
Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card details, your billing address or your name.
If the app cannot reach RevenueCat, for example because you are offline, everything except buying and restoring continues to work normally.
04 What we do not collect
- No crash reporting. The app contains no crash, error or analytics reporting of any kind.
- No analytics. We do not measure how you use the app.
- No advertising. There are no adverts in CitizenReady and no advertising or tracking identifier is used or read.
- No tracking. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we share nothing with data brokers.
- No name, email address, phone number or postal address
- No immigration status, nationality, visa route or application details
- No location
- No contacts, photos, calendar or any other app’s data
The app requests no permissions beyond notifications, and that only if you turn reminders on.
05 Notifications
If you enable reminders, they are scheduled and delivered locally by your own device. CitizenReady does not use push notifications, holds no push notification entitlement, and never sends a notification from a server. Nothing about your reminders reaches us. You can turn reminders off at any time in the app, or in your device settings.
06 Links you tap
The settlement and citizenship guide links to GOV.UK and legislation.gov.uk. Tapping one opens your own browser and leaves CitizenReady. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we have no involvement in your visit.

We rely on consent for nothing, because nothing described here is optional to the operation of the app. We process no special category data.
08 How long anything is kept
Data on your device is kept until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app.
Purchase records are retained by RevenueCat, Apple and Google for as long as needed to honour your purchase and to meet their own legal and accounting obligations.
09 Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability.
Because everything about your study is held only on your device, most of these rights are exercised directly: delete the app, or use Reset progress inside it. For anything relating to your purchase, write to support@nextgensoftware.co and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
10 Children
CitizenReady is intended for adults preparing for the Life in the UK Test. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any data from children.

That is the complete list. We sell your data to nobody, share it with nobody beyond the three above, and use it for no purpose other than those described here.
12 International transfers
RevenueCat processes data outside the United Kingdom. That transfer is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision, as set out in RevenueCat’s own policy. The same applies to Apple and Google.
13 Changes
If we change this policy we will update the version and date at the top and publish the new version at this address. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
14 Not affiliated with the government
CitizenReady is an independent study tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration, PSI Services or TSO. The Life in the UK Test fee is paid to the test provider, never to us.
